The Milwaukee Brewers stand one victory away from their first World Series championship after defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 on Monday night. The win extends Milwaukee's postseason winning streak to eight games, tying the major league record for a single fall campaign. The series is now tied 3-1, with Game 4 scheduled for Tuesday night at Tropicana Field.

The decisive moment arrived in the fifth inning, where the Brewers scored eight runs. This marked the first time in World Series history that a team recorded eight two-out runs in a single inning. Brice Turang initiated the surge with a two-run single, followed by consecutive hits from Garrett Mitchell, Cooper Pratt, and Sal Frelick. The inning concluded with an 8-0 lead after a replay review overturned a forceout at second base.

On the mound, rookie left-hander Robert Gasser limited Tampa Bay to one hit over six innings. He faced the minimum 18 batters, becoming the first starter to achieve this feat in a World Series game since Curt Schilling in 2001. Gasser retired 14 consecutive hitters after allowing a leadoff single to Yandy Díaz in the first inning. The Rays' offense stalled behind Gasser until Victor Mesa Jr. drew a walk in the sixth.

Jackson Chourio finished the game 4 for 5 with a double and a stolen base. At age 22, he became the second-youngest player to record four hits and a stolen base in a World Series game. Manager Pat Murphy praised Chourio's performance, noting that the outfielder had collected eight hits across the three previous series games. Chourio credited his preparation for the pressure of the final moments of the series.

The Rays, who led the American League with 98 regular season wins, have never won a World Series in their 29 seasons of existence. They swept the New York Yankees in the Division Series and defeated the Cleveland Guardians in the ALCS. Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash acknowledged the team's struggle, stating that they must win Tuesday's game to survive. The Brewers, who led the National League with 103 wins, previously swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS.

Brandon Woodruff closed the game in the ninth inning, allowing one run and two hits in his first appearance in three and a half months. He returned to the mound after a shoulder injury that initially required surgery. Griffin Jax is slated to start for Tampa Bay on Tuesday, while Milwaukee has not yet announced its pitcher. The Brewers face a historical hurdle, as 21 of the previous 25 teams to hold a 3-0 series lead went on to sweep the opponent.
